Even the Mini iPods Suck

I've mentioned previously that the original iPods sucked, and still sucks. Today I came across a post on Channel 9 telling how the Mini iPod also sucks. Can Apple get anything right?

Mexican Air Force Films UFOs

Wired has an article about Mexican UFOs caught on tape. Pretty sweet that their armed forces released the tapes to the press. First the Canadians, and now the Mexicans.

[Edit]: now the Wired URL works.

In case you've been living under a rock, or if you just don't care, Doom 3 is set to launch this summer. Doom 3 has been on my damn wishlist since October of 2002 (it was only $35 back then, now it's up to $50). Hopefully I'm not going to get let down by more delays. Needless to say, I can't wait.

Mod your Xbox into a Media Center PC

TomsHardware.com: "While a top-of-the-range DVD player's performance may be good, the range of functions most models offer are limited to say the least. No solution we are aware of comes close to the capabilities of the Xbox Media Center. Fortunately, the developers offer the XBMC free of charge and a suitably modded Xbox, such as the one we tested, with remote control and A/V cable, is readily affordable. [...] the inevitable onslaught of future systems that will support numerous multimedia file types will still have a tough time to beat the price/performance ratio a modded Xbox offers." Really, $150 is a hell of a deal for something with this many features. Why would anyone buy a PS2 or Gamecube when an Xbox has this much extensibility? All Xbox needs to destroy the market is Gran Turismo and Mario. It already has some sweet Atari games.

[Edit]: Premodded Xboxes from FriendTech range in price from $199 - $479.

No Kids for You!

I've always thought having kids should be a privilege, not a right. Now a judge in Rochester agrees with me (from Jon). Apparently it's four strikes and you're out when it comes to having neglected crack-babies. "I think what the judge is trying to do is kind of have a wake-up call for society," says Attorney Chris Affronti, who chairs the family law section of the Monroe County Bar Association. Score +1 for society.

US Draft

After registering for the draft (it's the law, you know), get some fresh gear. Poke fun at the miserable failure that runs this country... for now.

[Edit]: great stuff, more in the links in the left-side.
