Slashdot has a post about "America's Most Connected Campuses". #1 is in Upstate NY, 5 out of the top 20 are in NY and 4 of those are in Upstate NY. On an educational note, I'd like to tell SoCal and SiliValley to "suck it" - but on an economical note, I now understand why the IT market in this area is so flooded, and why my salary (according to all those depressing surveys) is well below the national average for what I do.

I can't wait, $13K brand new, and it gets 70mpg. Not to mention the other sweet features. Wired and Gizmodo have write-ups, and Smart's site is pretty decent, but their fluffy US site could use some work. Of course in order to import their cars into the US, they had to make an SUV version (according to unwritten law).

BrandLogic won an award for the new SJU site recently. It showed up on Yahoo News (RSS) and Google News (RSS). Of all the sites that I've worked on in the past 5 years, I think that SJU's site turned out the best. Not to mention its XHTML and CSS validity. Well mostly valid. There are still many pieces of content which aren't, and the damn ASP.Net Calendar control, and probably a few pieces of our own code that squeaked through unnoticed.

I stumbled upon one of Tim Burton's upcoming movies on IMDB today. I'm guessing that its a remake of the classic Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. I can't picture Johnny Depp as Wonka, Gene Wilder was just too perfect for the role IMO.

Another thing that I discovered was that Dottie (from Pee Wee's Big Adventure) is Buttercup (the Powerpuff Girl). IMDB is amazing.

Dave just IM'd me this thing about a monster ocean sunfish. Looks bizarro.

[Update]: I searched Google news for more articles and I found this article from Scotland. They thought the 3 foot, 50 pound sunfish they caught was a freak - HA! That's nothing compared to the pseudo-aussie's 3m, 1 tonne sunfish. (is that the same as a ton?)

Sherry was forced to buy an eMac for her job last night. I tried to convince her that PearPC would be enough, but I guess it was just too slow on her junkware-laden pc (don't get me started on that). Aside from the DVD drive (her PC only has a burner), the only differences hardware-wise are that the eMac's processor is ~250MHz slower and it has half the RAM. Oh yeah, and it was twice the cost of what I paid for her PC... 2 years ago. All because her source files used fonts that she doesn't have for her PC. *sigh* The PC can still be restarted twice in the time it takes for the eMac to boot up once.

Bear Hello. I got the link from the dude who did the Banana Phone one, which isn't too bad either. And I got the Banana Phone one from Davey's AIM profile. And he got it from Rocko (one of my XC bros). Isn't the internet great? I like the micromusic at the end of Bear Hello.

Only on Ananova Quirkies would you find a story like this. To break out of a 700-pound bear hug, with the butt of your shotgun and only a warning shot - then falling and shooting yourself in the head?!?! At least he lived to tell about it. Of course, thanks to the lapse of the assault weapons ban here in the US he would've been able to squeeze of at least 6 warning shots, and he would've probably shot himself in the head 3 times.

I wish I had a TabletPC and OneNote when I went to RIT. Ern sent me this MS Case Study yesterday. When I took Tech. Transfer at RIT, one of our group assignments was to come up with a new innovation — only two of the innovations didn't involve taking notes in class.

This is probably the best guide to hacking your TiVo I've ever seen. They have quite a few TiVo models and lots of options. I like the way that they filter out the unnecessary instructions by asking you questions. I'm not sure about that PowerTrip delay though, sounds kinda sketchy. I guess they probably have to make money somehow. I'll probably actually put this in my queue of stuff to do, although I doubt I'll get to it before Halloween.
